I saw this house in one of the main streets of Cobh. The windows were covered in paper, the paintwork faded, and the ivy from pots was beginning to invade. I liked the air of genteel dilapidation. It was only after I had taken the photo that I saw the plaque close to the door, which said ... "Robert Forde R.N., Antarctic Explorer 1910 -1913 Lived here". A bit of Googling taught me that he was one of several Irishmen that took part Capt.Scott's last expedition, and I even found a photo of him online.
And interesting story.
