Our village of 2000 souls had, until three years ago, a Michelin 1 star restaurant, and we live an hour's drive from restaurants that have been voted the best in the World, El Celler de Can Roca in Girona and elBulli in Roses. But there are just some things you can't live without, and today we shopped in Spain, where these staples of the British diet are less than a third the price in France. So we stocked up.
