Spanish broom by laroque

Spanish broom

I took Jasper up into the mountains yesterday for the first time in weeks. Spanish broom was in flower everywhere. It is an invasive species now on virtually every continent, having been distributed for its decorative properties. Since we were only about 0,5 km from the Spanish border here, I guess this one could be considered native.
Lovely shade of yellow! I haven't seen any of this here yet, but that's not to say it isn't here. We have plenty of other invasive species from around the world though.

I don't know if we have it in Australia, but that's not saying much. After years and years, I still refer to 'that purple thing near the letterbox'... gardening not my strong suit 😉 but I like the strong colour against all the green.
