We've had a long, hot summer, the hottest May and June on record, multiple heatwaves in July and August. I've had to stay low, near the river for the sake of my dog. Today, although still 27°C, there is cloud cover and after three days of intermittent light rain it seemed possible to climb higher. This shot was taken looking back down the valley from about 500m altitude towards the Roussillon plain and the Med, the path we climbed just visible on the left. Plan was to head for a spring, the Font de la Vermosa, before descending down the eastern side of the valley, a plan foiled by unforeseen circumstances, subject of a future photo.
The shot was taken with the wide-angle lens of my new smartphone and is unedited, apart from being cropped to 3:2 because I seem to have set the phone to 4:3 somehow.
