Abandoned..... by leggzy

Abandoned.....

Another find from yesterday, taken in the same little village as St Peters Anglican Church (no time to get out & about today....busy packing!). The railway line is still in use nowadays, but only for freight trains....the station is all boarded up & no longer used, as are many old stations out in rural Australia. I reckon I'll have to go back one day, as I think there is more to be found here :)

Thanks for all your comments & fav's on yesterdays photo that got it onto the PP :)))
looks like a dangerous spot to take a picture from, hope someone was watching your back

Always sad to see an abandoned station but good to know that the line at least has survived. Strangely enough my 365 photo today is on a similar theme .... an historic locomotive waiting for an old track to be re-laid for it to run on!

Great abandoned theme, I almost expect a tumble-weed to drift by. Fab shot!

@zosimasy yeah it was safe. It is in a rural area....would be lucky to get a train a day. I was very aware & really quick with my shot & then out of there

@wordpixman we have many disused & damaged lines as well, most so bad that I'm pretty sure the government has declared them nonviable to repair. There's not many trains that operate out these ways anymore, which is sad!

@daisyditch Thanks Daisy - yes some tumbleweed certainly wouldn't look out of place :)

Nice little station that once was!!

I love the feeling of desolation evoked by this image :)

How sad that these beautiful old stations are no longer in use. With us older Aussies wanted to travel it would be so good to go to these places by train.

A wonderful capture . Very atmospheric. Fav.

@365projectorgjenfurj Couldn't agree more. Such a shame & such a waste with all the rail lines around here deteriorating away.

@leggzy Have a fantastic time! I look forward to following your journey on 365!

Great composition - shame the station has closed

Just as well the station is closed, you might be in the way if a train comes along.

Lovely composition!

Grand capture.

Looks like it would make an interesting house for a train spotter. Bet you could pick it up cheep too. :)

@jamibann Thank you Issi....not sure how I will go with Internet access (will be relying on hotel wifi, which sometimes is not very good), so I may have to end up doing a catchup when I get back. But fingers crossed that time & wifi are a plenty :)

@peterday it was perfectly safe...it was a sleepy little village that would be lucky to get 1 train per day....plus I was very alert listening for any trains, plus I was very quick....but thank you for your concern :)
April 15th, 2016
@swillinbillyflynn that's if the government would sell it to you, which I doubt they would.
April 15th, 2016
@dorsethelen @paulavdmerwe @tonygig thank you all for your kind comments :)
April 15th, 2016
Abundant? I hope one day it will bring the train back.

Another great shot - what other surprises will you find.

Great leading lines and composition!
