Another find from yesterday, taken in the same little village as St Peters Anglican Church (no time to get out & about today....busy packing!). The railway line is still in use nowadays, but only for freight trains....the station is all boarded up & no longer used, as are many old stations out in rural Australia. I reckon I'll have to go back one day, as I think there is more to be found here :)
Thanks for all your comments & fav's on yesterdays photo that got it onto the PP :)))
Always sad to see an abandoned station but good to know that the line at least has survived. Strangely enough my 365 photo today is on a similar theme .... an historic locomotive waiting for an old track to be re-laid for it to run on!
@zosimasy yeah it was safe. It is in a rural area....would be lucky to get a train a day. I was very aware & really quick with my shot & then out of there
@wordpixman we have many disused & damaged lines as well, most so bad that I'm pretty sure the government has declared them nonviable to repair. There's not many trains that operate out these ways anymore, which is sad!
How sad that these beautiful old stations are no longer in use. With us older Aussies wanted to travel it would be so good to go to these places by train.
@jamibann Thank you Issi....not sure how I will go with Internet access (will be relying on hotel wifi, which sometimes is not very good), so I may have to end up doing a catchup when I get back. But fingers crossed that time & wifi are a plenty :)
@peterday it was perfectly safe...it was a sleepy little village that would be lucky to get 1 train per day....plus I was very alert listening for any trains, plus I was very quick....but thank you for your concern :)
