Bradleys & O'Briens Hut by leggzy

Bradleys & O'Briens Hut

I have spent the day painting my bathroom, so no chance to even think about getting out for a shot...so I'm going back to our trip to the Snowy Mountains after Christmas for todays photo.

This is another gorgeous little hut in the Snowy Mountains, called Bradleys & O'Briens Hut.

The hut was built by Jack Bailey in 1952. It was originally used for grazing, but the stables and horse yards were removed by the NPWS. The area around the hut is commonly used by campers planning to head off to the Jagungal wilderness. This hut has an agreeable outlook, and appears as a small homestead. Built of timber frames and corrugated iron walls and roof, it measures 6.5m by 4m, plus a verandah area at the front. The floor is made of sawn timber and a solid fireplace is set on a concrete slab. O'Briens hut sits in an area of montane forest and outstanding beauty. The hut is used on most weekends, and is at an altitude where cross-skiing is common.

No idea why it is called Bradlys & O'Briens hut, considering it was built by a Jack Bailey?!? lol

Must get back to another coat of paint....
Totally romantic.

It looks attractive country to explore leggzy and I'm sure many a tale has been told in that hut.

So it is still in use by the owners! A beautiful place to spend the weekend, especially when the sun is out. Enjoy the painting job. When ready you can come and do mine.

Super shot and interesting story too.

Good luck with the painting. We bought paint for our bathroom a few weeks ago, but it has been too hot to start the job at the moment. Will leave it until the weather is cooler.

It would look so welcoming if you came across it at dusk in the middle of winter.
