St James by leggzy

St James

Catholic Church - Blayney

Not the most conventional looking church, let alone catholic church. My first thought was that the building looks like an old theatre or something, and upon getting home & searching on Google, that is exactly what it used to be - The Blayney theatre.

I also found that St James Catholic church moved from their original church (which was built in 1877) to these current premises in 1981....so I think I need to try to find the original church (if it's still there) to get a shot of it too.

Interesting building. The first thing I thought when I saw this was it was a cinema. I wonder what happened to the original St James church.

Brilliantly unconventional! Was a bit disappointed when I realised that wasn't a cash distributor on the right-hand side.

There are a lot of congregations here in the US that buy buildings like this to start their churches so it's not unusual to me- however I've not heard of a Catholic church doing this. Good find and good shot!
