Wentworth Falls by leggzy

Wentworth Falls

For our 30th wedding anniversary we had a weekend hiking in the Blue Mountains. This is Wentworth Falls - we ended up walking right to the bottom of the falls & then along the valley floor to the Valley of Waters. Then what goes down, must come up....so lots and lots of steps to get up & out of the valley. It took us 6 hours in total. The walk we wanted to do was unfortunately closed due to a rock fall - it's called the National Pass. This is the track where a worker was recently killed in trying to assess/repair the damaged track - very sad. Hence we walked a different track & ended up down on the valley floor, having to clamber down ladders and all sorts of things! The weather wasn't the best, it stayed foggy all day and drizzled rain most of the day too. We still had a wonderful time & seen a beautiful part of this wonderful country. We would like to go back one day to do the National Pass track if it ever opens again - there is a lot of history in this track. It was built by hand in the early 1900's, with all the steps that descend the cliff face being carved by hand! Truly fascinating stuff :)

Most of December will be filled with shots from our walk in the Blue Mountains, as not many photos have been taken in the last few weeks :)
