So here's my story from the other day. I decided to check the bluebird box in the backyard and hear Harry, you know Harry hawk. I spy him in a tree and head in for my camera. Harry decides not to wait for me. Surprise Surprise..LOL Wait now I hear Woody, he's pretty far away and an idea hits me. I pull out my phone and pull up my bird app. I find Pleated Woodpecker and hit song. I swear Woody came like a bat out of hell right to the tree by his suet feeder then onto the roof of the gazebo looking all around. I had the camera ready and snapped away. He then went to one other tree and flew to the front of the house. My cellphone rings and it's my neighbor Peg saying there's a woodpecker out front. We both got lucky. Looks like he was busy making holes before I disturbed him.
Great profile of that woodpecker. And if ever a bird deserved a profile. I love the way that the roofline separates the space diagonally. And how the texture and color of the roof shakes contrast with the green color and blur of the background on the upper portion. FAV. A great photo is so many ways.
so impressive in getting him to come to you and the photo! I like that @mbrutus defined perfectly what I like about the photo but am too inept to verbalize myself! FAV for me too
