Each Christmas season there is a Parade of Trees at the Opryland Hotel. Guests can bid on the trees, which are decorated by country artists and celebrities. The highest bidder wins the decorations and prizes, and the funds go to the donor's favorite charity. This tree by Dolly Parton was my favorite. I know some of you have heard about the terrible wild fires in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge TN. Tragically, a school mate of mine lost her cousin and husband. I believe the death toll is at 11 and countless families have lost their homes and jobs. Dolly is donating funds to each family for 6 months to help rebuild. Prayers from around the world will be much appreciated, too, my 365ers.

What a kind and generous heart Miss Dolly has. I've been in the Gatlinburg area many times (used to live not far from it) and it's sad to think of it being ravaged by fire. It looks like the decorations on this tree tell part of her life story.
Thanks for posting this information . . . I'm touched by Dolly's generous spirit. I was in the Country Music Hall of Fame and saw her name in a few places but I should have paid more attention. Our hearts are with those families. . . .
@jyokota I was just viewing your wonderful Nashville photos. Even though I live just a few miles south of Nashville, I don't get downtown very often. Glad you were able to visit a few of our landmarks.
