This was taken between thunderstorms on a very grey late afternoon (~6:30 pm). Very diffused light, and pretty still water. I cropped to 2:3 ratio, adjusted levels and converted to B&W.
Sometimes I'm not sure until processing if I'll choose B&W. Other times (probably at least 50/50), I know when composing. This was one of the other times, it was going to be B&W from the start. I wanted to get a little lower on the perspective, but I needed to avoid an area where the water wasn't as calm (presumably a slight breeze).
Very little editing here. Cropped to 3:2 (from 4:3), adjusted levels and converted to B&W. Resized for the website, with a tiny bit of unsharp mask (which I almost always add after resizing).
Thanks all!! And Wendy, you get the prize for my favorite comment of all time. I'm always hoping a photo will strike a positive note. "Freaking amazing" is pretty cool!
