For the WWYD challenge. My edits to Sally Ings' (@salza0) starting image. WWYD explained here WWYD-200
Here's a summary of my edits, or What I Did:
1) Adjust levels
2) Rotate so that horizon is level (-0.40 degrees)
3) Crop to 16:9 panorama ratio, set horizon at lower dividing line
4) Resized to 1024 pixels wide (+2.9%)
5) Unsharp mask to crisp it up a bit after the resizing
6) Cloned out the white “pipe” thing in the sand on the left.
7) Adjusted white balance to remove overall blue cast (using white-caps as “true white”)
8) Convert to B&W, including some of the “secret sauce” adjustments.
9) Create second B&W conversion with different “secret sauce” and Orange Filter to improve contrast to skies / water
10) Blended the two B&W images to optimize each of the 3 regions (sky / water / beach)
11) Added a little bit of sepia tone to warm it up
12) Adjusted levels one last time
It is a beautiful composition, love bw
