Didn't think I was going to get much of a shot today when I saw the wings flash across the window while we were eating. I knew who it was because I chased him off two days ago. While he (and his mate) are really cute the pond is not big enough for him. Also, it is not safe. Our next door neighbor has 5 dogs, one of the other neighbors' lab/shepherd mix runs free and two other neighbors have large dogs that sometimes get out. Not a good combination with baby ducks.
He is a stubborn duck, did not want to leave today. He came back twice tonight and I am not sure he is not hiding under a bush. I'll check for him in the morning. There is a nice large pond less than a mile away in the business park, so no dogs, and busy enough that the other predators (fox, coyotes and coons) stay away.
@tesssa@jupiter394 Thanks. Every year at least one pair show up and try to nest, even the Canada Geese will try, but it is too dangerous. Scout comes by at least 1-2 times a day. He is afraid of the fish but he drinks out of the lotus pot. And the hawk sits on the trellis to watch (terrorize) the fish.
