B17G Flying Fortress by lynne5477

B17G Flying Fortress

Took my parents out to see a couple of WWII aircraft (B17 & B24) at Meachum Airport today. My dad flew as an Combat Photographer and an Aviation Radio Operator in the B24 in WWII. The B17 was built by Boeing in 1945 and was known as the "Flying Fortress".
Fabulous detail in this wonderful old aircraft Lynne! : )

Great shot and processing! I took my dad to see those birds a few years ago. He was a radio operator on a B17 in WWII. He showed me the tiny little desk he sat at.

@paula365 Thanks, Paula. Dad is 91, he'll be 92 in June. He managed to climb up into the B24 but decided it was a little tough for him to do so did not climb into this B17. But I think he enjoyed the outing and telling me about flying and stuff. There was actually a local news guy there when we were there and he interviewed dad for a few minutes.

@lynne5477 , I know you will always treasure this day with your dad as he did with you. My dad loved telling us stories and I never got tired of hearing them.
