My Russian Cousins by maggiemae

My Russian Cousins

Meeting in Christchurch for an afternoon of learning about Olya and Nina, her 24year old daughter, and catching up on family history. Olya is my first cousin's granddaughter. She spoke reasonable English and loved her NZ visit. There doesn't seem to be the difficulty with travelling out of Russia now-days provided all the boxes are ticked. They had never met us and it was their first visit to NZ.
how fun
so nice to get together with relatives.

What an amazing adventure for them- and you too! I wonder if I ever get to Scotland if there will be distant relatives there- but I won't start researching that until I know I'm really going! A very nice candid portrait of your "cousins".

They have lovely eyes!

so very nice to meet new family!
April 12th, 2013
@sunshinephoto5 All our family have blue eyes so a brown eyed cousin is quite rare - take after the father's brown eyes!

Beautiful capture-- I love the angle! It's a great story, too. We are going to Russia on holiday in May, to see St. Petersburg, Moscow, and five villages called "the cities of the golden ring."

Sounds so interesting! You probably had much to catch up. Do you keep in touch by e-mails or? Btw Russian language is very similar to Bulgarian (my language) - we also have the cyrillic alphabet:)
