Meeting in Christchurch for an afternoon of learning about Olya and Nina, her 24year old daughter, and catching up on family history. Olya is my first cousin's granddaughter. She spoke reasonable English and loved her NZ visit. There doesn't seem to be the difficulty with travelling out of Russia now-days provided all the boxes are ticked. They had never met us and it was their first visit to NZ.
A little bit daunting at first meeting new relations..will we get on etc etc but all looks good & glad some good English spoken so you could have a good catch up!! Love this non posed photo of them both, wonder what they thought of 365!!
What an amazing adventure for them- and you too! I wonder if I ever get to Scotland if there will be distant relatives there- but I won't start researching that until I know I'm really going! A very nice candid portrait of your "cousins".
wow! fantastic to be brought together like this! so glad they were able to come! and now you have a great picture to keep their faces with you forever!
Beautiful capture-- I love the angle! It's a great story, too. We are going to Russia on holiday in May, to see St. Petersburg, Moscow, and five villages called "the cities of the golden ring."
Sounds so interesting! You probably had much to catch up. Do you keep in touch by e-mails or? Btw Russian language is very similar to Bulgarian (my language) - we also have the cyrillic alphabet:)
