After a day of absolutely no photo opportunity and even after I thought I had made one but didn't, I looked out the window and the sun glared at me through a tree. I don't know how you are supposed to treat a sun flare but didn't have time to look it up.
I think the aperture should have been higher!
Three good things;
1. Putting time aside to read a proper book.
2. One window cleaned - not going to do the whole lot in one go.
3. Dug up a maidenhair fern that I planted out in the garden last year, rather than throwing it out as it had died right back. It is recovering inside quite well and accepting visitors.
i must come and visit the fern. is that the plant with the fan like leaves and black stems? i should look it up, i had it a long time ago but had to give it away when i moved or something.
Had to laugh at the one window one....don't exert yourself too much......that's the spirit! I have found out if you are too good at something you get landed with the job for ever.....eg. Painting!
You can see the sun even in the middle of winter!
@happypat Thanks Pat, I was somewhat befuddled when I thought I had said something that wasn't acceptable but on my limited sharing thoughts and pictures with you, I realised this wouldn't have happened!
@maggiemae you could never offend me maggiemae, more the other way round , I sometimes am a bit too opinionated for my own good! This has only happened since I passed a certain O number he he!
@happypat I feel the same, Pat! We passed that "O" number together! I feel we both consider what we say to others seriously in case of misunderstandings and so that should never happen!
@maggiemae I also have to say I deleted Phil, Judith among several others in recent weeks, that's why they are all near the top of my list of followers....I also deleted my own grandson......don't know how I do it!!
Fabulous capture of that glorious burst of sun! You did well. I did the same with a peace lily that was on its last leg about 10 years ago. Almost threw it out and decided to replant it in another location. Now it blooms like crazy all year round. Hope your fern does the same!
@happypat@maggiemae is that me you're talking about?! Good job I'm not sensitive - I didn't know you'd deleted me!! Number three made me laugh Maggie. I'm turning 50 this year - am I going to turn all forthright?! Anyway - the sun looks lovely - you're supposed to knock your f number up to about 20 to get a proper flare but even then it depends on the sun coming through a small gap (probably fine here). I learnt that watching a chat show while ironing!
@maggiemae@judithg well wearing purple & spitting isn't on the cards yet for maggiemae & me but I think you have a few years to go before you become bolshy!
@judithg 50?! 50 is the new 5. You're just a babe in the woods!
Lovely flare. I have no idea what setting to take them at. I just shoot them and if it works- great! Although I did read of a few different photographers that did this one to many times and ruined their cameras. Apparently, like our eyes, cameras should not stare directly at the sun for too long or they burn their sensors.
And let me know what age one must be where it is acceptable to be opinionated. I don't know if I got the memo and I've already started. I might have to adjust my gears!
