In Rapid City, there stand bronze statues on the corners of the the streets, mostly all Presidents of USA. They are skilled reproductions with the emphasis on what this President was important for. Here, President Jefferson is about to sign the Draft for the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Three Good Things:
1. A lot of good things have happened since 1776.
2. Barbecued prawns wrapped in bacon is a Good Thing.
3. I'm staring at two pictures of lemons hoping that they will improve my oncoming cold.
Oh dear a cold coming on....a stiff whiskey might be a better option....a good old fashioned hot toddy can work wonders!
Great to see such a piece of history immortalised forever like this.....beautifully done too. I like the sound of the prawns!
@grammyn@julzmaioro@happypat Thank you Katy Julia and Pat - your whisky treatment sounds just the thing! I am in full cold force and now laid up so will lay the whisky on its side too and just sip it for at least an hour!
@grammyn Today in Sturgis it was 106degF. I didn't sweat but drank heaps of water. I don't have a temp yet but now I've trekked 10 blocks to a pharmacy and got some tablets! What ho, Katy!
A very lovely capture. Perfect lighting on this sculpture. Thank you for sharing this bit of American history with us. Hope you are enjoying our country and that you are being treated well?
@eyesmile Thank you Gena - because of your word, I went back and looked at you personal info and really appreciated what you had to say! Everyone here is so friendly and says, "You're Welcome" and i do feel that they mean it!
Nice shot, Maggiemae. I have never visited there in my travels across the northern states. I do hope that you don't get a cold. The weather here in the US is pretty crazy the past couple of weeks. Record highs and lows and in between.
What a great capture, Maggiemae. Love the detail and angle of this photo. Hope you get to feeling better and not worse. I agree with Katy, probably the change in weather from your travels.
