I think looking at so many excellent photos that have won awards, and TT’s its the composition and balance that is most pleasing. If there is too much at the front or not enough balance of form, it does not quite meet the standard. I hope i don’t sound too uppity!
I took several with this scene but liked the one framed by a spreading tree. A couple of historic buildings here in Oamaru - classical architecture. Processed with Silver Efex.
Three good things;
1. Katy ( @grammyn ) told me about using the NIK collection - no need for PS or LR and there I was -able to use it!
2. Two new Library books that I can’t wait to pick up - probably during the rugby tonight!
3. Had to pay for the Accounting System we have had for years, haven’t updated for years and now our old one doesn’t work. Back to work tomorrow!
Love the overhanging branches with their rough textures , and peering through to the smoothness of the beautiful columns and building beyond the tree To me the train signs distract from the glimpse of the building , perhaps cropping out the image's bottom so the cars lie on the bottom of the image would change the whole scene -- but then it is obvious by your title that you want us to notice the train signs ( I think I was barking up the wrong tree so to speak !! )
Wow! Most excellent processing my dear. I like your choice of using the tree to frame the shot. Glad you are feeling well enough to go back to work, sorry you have to go.
@grammyn You must be confusing me with someone else - I'm perfectly well and not going anywhere! As someone told me when I got the conversation all wrong...."Keep Up, Maggie'
@maggiemae I thought you had a procedure done recently and I guess I thought that made you out of work, especially since you said back to work tomorrow above. Lol! I'll try to "keep up"!
@grammyn Oh sorry, Katy - I see what you mean! Yes I had a cut made on my leg that didn't cause me to recline all day on a comfy sofa. Its got the plaster and stitches removed now and its doing its best to heal!
Oh yes....good idea. Lovely processing on this. We have lots of accidents in Portland Oregon with people texting and walking and then being hit by the street cars (Max train) in downtown area.
This is brilliant Maggiemae, a sound decision to use the tree as a frame. The contrast in shapes lines and textures coupled with the processing creates a lovely feel to this image that makes me want to visit. Easy Fav this!
a true masterpiece
