Victorian Festival in Oamaru - happens every year and the costumes that come out are just fantastic.
In front of some historic buildings that Oamaru is very proud of , is this Mum and a somewhat reluctant son (how old?) I think she has great courage!
Three good things:
1 The Garden Tea Party was not on in our wonderful Public Gardens owing obviously from all the rain we have had so it was held in a Public Hall. Not for me so I nipped up the road a bit further and got two big pieces of fresh blue cod for tea!
2. There were some really odd costumes in the line-up here and I will put them on in my other album.
3. My Canadian son messaged me with a great app to scan old photograph albums with your smart phone! Very easy to use and will be there long after the albums have disintegrated - almost have now - some over 70 years old! Called "Photo Scan'
They are truly remarkable costumes Maggie. Very true to the times & it's a great thing your town is so enthusiastic for the festival, I'm sure it's most popular & people will flock to that event. Some people really like getting into character & good for them but I am not one myself unfortunately. Good job we're not all alike in this works!
What a wonderful display of enthusiastic people of Oamari displaying these beautiful costumes to celebrate the Victorian festival, so nice to have these annual celebrations !
A wonderful picture that really does take us back to another time, not only the costumes (which are great) but the fact you photographed the people against the historic building. I would have been in photographic heaven.
Very elegant without being over the top. It sounds like a great photo opportunity. I don't know if I would want to dress up in Victorian garb. I'd probably end up looking like the young lad.
outstanding indeed! A step back in time!
