Remembering My Dad by mamabec

Remembering My Dad

His parents called him son,
My mom called him Herman (his middle name)
Our children called him Pappy
But he was my dad - a mentor, confidant, encourager, jokester, friend, lover of life, and loved me unconditionally. He was also an artist, and in 1995 my Father's Day gift to him was for the two of us to take a painting class together - one of those classes where everyone paints the same thing but they all come out looking different (his on the left - mine on the right). This was the last painting my dad painted and I treasure these two from the class we took together. He ascended to heaven in 1998 and I miss him - but he left a wonderful legacy from a life filled with love.

You really should frame those two. What a wonderful remembrance to be able to see those every day as you walk through your house.

@webfoot. No, they are not framed - but should be - however they are hanging in our guest room as shown (just not on a slant).

What a great gift and legacy of love to have in your home. Such a lovely tribute to him on fathers day. I know he is looking down with a big smile of approval!

I love these pictures especially since you both worked side by side painting them and they are so unique. Great job!
