Same Red Mushroom - Different Day by mamabec

Same Red Mushroom - Different Day

I took a photo of this very same mushroom six days ago. We were gone to Seattle for a week and this is what it looks like now. Quite the change.

Compare to November 6. Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly Amanita, is a poisonous and psychoactive basidiomycete fungus.
Wow!!! cool:)

@tivans
Thanks Blondie! These are strange, yet beautiful mushrooms if you catch them at their most colorful time.

I'm guessing that you feel just as different in those 6 days as the mushroom- only yours is going towards relief from fear and the mushrooms from radiance to...old age? Nice shot

No one likes mushrooms around here it seems. Every time I find one, it's just popping out, but a couple of days later, they're smushed. No one wants to let them develop.

@bradsworld LOL, yes Brad, the top was actually full of rainwater.

Quite a change and the red color alert seems to have disappeared. Looks like Alice in Wonderland shot...

Here's the interesting part - the deer ate the tops off of 3 new ones and took a bite out of the one in this photo. They are having a 1960's moment. You know what they say about the '60s, "If you remember them, you weren't there."

@mamabec Ha, keep an eye on them...they may end up being part of Santa's flying troupe!

Okay, now you have me laughing out-loud! Seriously! I visualize Santa's reindeer high on mushrooms and THAT is WHY they are FLYING! BTW - today, all the mushrooms are gone, clean down to the ground and hoof prints left in the bark.

Wow, I love this shot. I can just imagine little fairy folk finding shelter in under the shroom and exchanging the latest news on the grapevine happily! Very cool.
