There is something very peaceful about the ocean. I always thought that the ocean drowns out the hiss of the world so that you can hear the still small voice. A stroll along the beach with the waves crashing in, can change your perspective on just about anything.

In my second year of 365 in 2012 I will be able to say "of course", BUT not in 2011's Project. The most I've messed with has been some manual setting and length of shutter speed. Today was an extremely bright day, with the sun so bright that on my longer exposures it was total white-out. The reflection off the ocean was blinding and then there was some fog along the hills. The sun really helped with the silhouette effect. THANK YOU for asking me that question and thank you for teaching me by challenging me to mess with ISO.
I'm just surprised. If you were in auto mode, I would think on a bright day, your camera would normally bring in your ISO around 200, perhaps even 100. Usually, you'd see 1400 ISO on a dark and dreary day.
I couldn't agree MORE! Moving away from the ocean has given me an even deeper love for it! I really like how you captures that hazy/foggy cast that the beach has at sunset...oh I might need to drive to the beach! :-)

The ocean is a powerful presence and there is a spiritual element to it as well. It is quite amazing, to say the least. Thank you for your comments.

That's probably because I metered off of the ocean and onto the dark area, then moved my focus more toward the ocean.
Thank you so much for your comments and a fav on this Northwest ocean shot.
