Bursting open... by marlboromaam

Bursting open...

All the fruit (olives) from the Tea Olive (or Sweet Olive) shrub are bursting open revealing those bright red seeds. I've never seen it do this, or I have just never noticed it before now. Still researching to try to find out if this is normal. For the curious, the fruit has no taste - I tried it yesterday. The red seeds are very hard - like little rocks. I wouldn't recommend trying to eat them. Just leave them for the birds.

Nine years ago today, I was at the beach! https://365project.org/marlboromaam/365/2011-10-10
I've heard of Tea Olive shrubs but never noticed the bright red seeds before. The picture almost looks otherworldly. Really neat shot!

Super capture, from what I can see it looks like the fruit has some kind of Canker??maybe that’s what caused the problem.

@craftymeg Thank you, Margaret! From what I've found out, this is normal. So maybe, if I time it right, I can get a halfway decent shot of the birds that feast on the seeds. =)
