Great texture and focus. The Seek APP identified it as a ringless honey mushroom which can be eaten if thoroughly cooked and no lawn treatments have been used. I generally don't eat mushrooms, though, since they have caused me severe stomach upset.
@k9photo That's fascinating, Kate. I just discovered that the puff ball fungus is edible - per Pam @pamalama. Although, I'm not sure how I'd prepare it. Pics of it to come later.
@marlboromaam I slice puff balls, and fry them. Egg, flour, and panko crumbs. I also like to put a little parmesan cheese in with the panko crumbs. The puff ball must be completely white. If it has any yellow or green it will taste horrible. They are very mild tasting. Unfortunately I did not find one this year. This is a fantastic shot!
@pamalama Thank you very much, Pam. The puff balls keep popping up in my front yard. Photos to come, although I haven't been brave enough to eat one yet. Give me time. =)
@lindasees Thank you, Linda.

@laroque I have no clue, other than they have gills and we're not supposed to eat the ones with gills.
@pusspup Thank you, Wylie.
