This ironing board is one that I got many years ago at a yard sale. I have no idea who it belonged to previously, but was fascinated by the note stuck to the bottom: "Happy 6th Anniversary Darling. Purchased March 7th 1959 for 6th Anniversary April 15th 1959." Awwww...how romantic can you get? One can only imagine how this gift must have swept her off her feet. ;-)

@abhijit Thanks! @suebarni I would hope my husband would know better. Neither of us does much ironing. As a result he goes around looking somewhat wrinkled, and I have fewer and fewer things to wear because everything needs ironing. Eventually I break down and do it. I plan to get rid of this thing at some point and get a small one that mounts on the wall. Maybe I'd have a more presentable wardrobe if I didn't have to haul this !@#% widdershins board out and set it up.

That's just brilliant, not just the fact an ironing board was considered the ideal anniversary present but that he actually took the time to write the note and stick it on there!!
