I washed a number of place mats and a sarong by hand and hung them on a rack placed in the tub/shower. I kind of liked how they looked with the shower curtain so I fiddled and arranged and took a number of photos. This morning I adjusted some settings -- saturation, tint or temperature, etc -- in iPhoto on this one and one other. As I did, I realized that there are so many gradations and variations and combinations -- difficult for me to judge and decide. Sometime, when I have the time, I will play with the settings in iPhoto and/or PS Elements using various types of photos until I get a more solid idea of which I'd want to use to accomplish what. I'm slowly getting a better idea, but need more.
I like the patchwork effect of different colours, patterns and textures here, Mary. Your get pushed challenge from me this week is to try and make a photo in the style of an artist of your own choice. Good luck!
@derekvickers@sbolden@denidouble Derek, Scott, and Deni -- Thank you so much for your comments. @christinehosey Thanks, it does have a bit of a world market look to it, come to think of it.
@julieco I have a photographer in mind for your challenge. Browsing around the web I found Damian Shields. http://damianshields.photoshelter.com/gallery-list
There's no way I could ever equal what he does (and don't have the dramatic Scottish landscape he portrays in much of his work). But I thought I'd continue a bit with Deni Double's challenge to me of last week -- to shoot landscape and add the layer of your challenge. If the remodel/addition I am about to descend into (sympathy for your redecorating and attendant mess) means I don't have time to go out to one of the places I have in mind, I'll come back to you groveling and asking to change artists to use for inspiration.
@mcsiegle A surprising and great choice! I had in mind an artist as in painter, but why not? I've added his website as a favourite. I even know and have taken shots of some of the places he's photographed in Scotland.
@julieco Wow. I'm envious of you. Someday, maybe I'll get to see those places in person. You know, I should have guessed you meant an artist in a different medium. I hadn't seen your incredible "Monet" yet.
