My get pushed challenge from Tonia @tcolemanklein was to try some light writing. At first I thought that it would be impossible, since I can't directly set shutter speed. Then I remembered that if I am trying to make a hand held photo in low light and don't set it to ISO 400 or higher, I'll get a blurred photo because it spends time "processing." In a flash of inspiration, I realized that meant I was getting a longer exposure. Duh... So that night I went into the upstairs bathroom with my camera and the iPod flashlight app as light source to test it out. The upper left and lower right were results of that late night dry run. Tonight I experimented with a couple of different flashlights and two different glow sticks. The red, white, and blue stick meant for 4th of July was a bust. What I got was very unimpressive -- the middle one on the second row down. The glow bracelet (green) was a bit more satisfying, especially when paired with the smaller of the two flashlights. I'm best at circles, but everything is pretty rudimentary compared to some of the gorgeous light writing I've seen here. (Laurie's @luvmynynix Cinderella coach!) Come 4th of July up in Wisconsin, I may try to get photos of sparkler play.
Awww, you're so sweet! Thank you for mentioning me!! I am actually going to try that again, this time with A standing next to it in her Cinderella gown! Hope it comes out the way I have it in my head! :) That, by the way, was a sparkler as well. They certainly do give off lots of light! I love how you have cataloged all of your work as you experimented! Awesome!
@tcolemanklein I must be losing it. A whole month later, I notice that my attempt to tag you above was a miserable failure. AND I didn't remember to tag you at all in the second shot I posted as response to the get pushed challenge you gave me. You probably thought I didn't even try the challenge. Apologies. I'm doing a belated tag on the next photo as well.
