From up on the hill

This is the first of my attempts at my get pushed challenge given to me by Jocasta @jocasta to shoot from up high looking down. As you can easily see, I'm not very skilled in matching photos up for a panorama, but couldn't resist trying to put at least two together. This really doesn't convey the "up high" quality that was actually there. We were almost all the way up a hill on the Konza Prairie, on their wildflower walk. It is so beautiful. But you have to have peripheral vision to fully appreciate it and, sadly, my camera doesn't have peripheral vision. Next I will find a place up high and try shooting straight down, instead of down and out. But it seemed a shame to be up high on that hill and not give Jocasta at least a taste of it.
Nice try Mary. I know I'm often frustrated at not being able to convey a breathtaking scene. If you use a wide angle you throw the background too far back, and if you use a telephoto you lose the sides.

Lovely capture of the Konza Prairie, Mary! By the way, I'll be in your neck of the woods tomorrow. I'm going to present for a Drama Therapy class in Manhattan in the morning.

@dragonwhistle Thanks, James. It's comforting to know it's not easy for everyone else. :-)

@kareenking Thanks, Kareen.
Darn, I wish I'd seen your comment yesterday. If you see this in time, any chance of meeting for lunch? I just have to be to work at 1:00.

Only saw this by chance, Mary. You need to tag me in one of these comment boxes for me to get a notification. It doesn't work from the box at the top. Konza Prairie looks like a fantastic huge space. Thanks for the FAV on Betty's nose.

Me again - just googled Konza Prairie - it's HUGE - what a wonderful place.

@jocasta Sorry, I do know I need to tag in a comment. I thought I had! Mea culpa. Yes, the Konza Prairie is quite large. The wildflower walk took us to an area off the public trails not normally open. We had to hustle the last bit of the walk a bit, as a storm was threatening and the last place you'd want to be (well normal people with better sense than I have) is up on the hill with thunder rumbling.

Oh, too bad you don't have a panorama feature on your camera/phone. That does make it easier. But this is still beautiful!! What a gorgeous vista! That places goes on forever
