That is the one thing I vividly remember about Kansas...blistering hot in the summer and frigid in the winter. And, those cottonwood trees around Ft. Riley were terrible for my allergies.
@homeschoolmom Awww, man. On behalf of Kansas and the cottonwoods, I offer humble apologies. My husband loves cottonwoods; they're his favorite tree. Sycamores are my favorite. In fairness to our weather, while I'll concede the blistering hot, blast furnace summer days, the winter only seems frigid if you don't have someplace like Minnesota to compare it to. We were in Minneapolis for 28 years before moving back to our home town.
It took me a few to figure out what this was, it makes for an interesting image, and you raise a great point just about most of the year this is not a practical bench.
