Where do I begin?

My get pushed challenge from Debs Stott @dibzgreasley was to "Take a shot incorporating handwriting or printed writing to tell us something about a subject of your choice." This is a file drawer full of letters we've received from various people at various times. It is dreadfully in need of organization. We have other packets of correspondence too (thankfully not all as mixed up as this drawer). Taken together they tell stories about the lives we've led and that our family and friends have led. We have all sorts of other documentation and artifacts from our ancestors also. When I think of beginning to write my family's history, it's overwhelming to try to decide where to start.

When I opened this drawer the letter from my Mom that is most visible in this picture jumped out at me and seemed so appropriate. She mentions trying to get out a scrapbook or packet of old letters or something similar each day to look at with my Grandmother.
@dibzgreasley This is not as creative as the responses you came up with for the challenge I set you. Sorry. I'm also tagging the shot I did for the 365 Toys theme this week as it fits your challenge as well.

@dibzgreasley I should say also that strangely enough I somewhat randomly pulled out a fat envelope from the back of the drawer, and it was the letters from my pen pal cousin in Scotland that I had wanted for the 365 Toys theme this week. Incredible! I really had no idea where I could find them and they show up in my hand just like that. Here's that shot. http://365project.org/mcsiegle/365/2015-08-01

this is a lovely response to your challenge! i've been trying to think of a new challenge for you as we are paired up for this coming week...

one idea i had... i notice you tend to do a lot of collages - most of them tend to be very cool abstracts... but i am wondering what you'd think about doing a collage in the style of David Hilliard... we did an artist challenge on him last year... i think you participated - but it was a year ago, so wondering if you'd want to give it a go again?

anyway, here is a link to that artist challenge which includes some links to some examples of his work... http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/22942/new-artist-challenge-david-hilliard

if not, another idea i had was to take pictures of things that look like letters, and create a collage to spell a word... alternatively, take photos of letters in different styles / fonts and make a collage like an anonymous note...

hopefully one of those ideas will work for you... let me know if not and i'll come up with something else...

@northy Either/any one of those sounds like fun and sufficiently challenging. Thanks. Stay tuned. I'm engaged right now in trying to come up with a challenge for you.

@mcsiegle Serendipity! Life has a way of doing things like that I think! I like this one, for all the questions that is asks. The shapes and lines make it visually appealing too and the handwriting is fab!
