On Saturday Frank and I took out from the lower cabinet most of the beautiful pieces of fine china that we inherited from his mother -- the ones that aren't displayed in the large glass-fronted secretary in the dining room. We had planned to hang some of the plates above the kitchen cabinet where we have the dishes and glassware. Finally, after two years of being back in our house since the renovation/addition, we were getting around to deciding what to hang where. I actually did hang a few pictures. When we started to discuss the dishes, it turns out Frank had a very different idea of which plates to hang up there in that spot. There are a few plates of the everyday variety that have been stored, but have a great sentimental value to him. He wants to be able to see them, but keep them "out of harm's way." So I've revised my vision of that space.
We also have varying opinions on which of the fine china to hang in the dining room, which is now the plan for these (some of them). How to decide? Should most of them be my choice since the other ones (to hang above the kitchen cabinet) were entirely his choice? Or half and half, because I love my husband? Hmmmm....
Oh, those are beautiful. Hard decision on where to hang what. For the most part, my husband lets me do all the decorating, but on rare occasions when he asks if he can hang something somewhere, I usually let him with minimal adjustments.
They are all lovely....I would have to hang them all....I too have lots of lovely retro china....which is languishing a dark cupboard at the moment.....just waiting for a large enough house to display them all in.....
@seattlite@timewalker Thanks so much. My mother in law loved these and it IS a shame to have them stuck in a cupboard. A lot of them have roses in the decoration -- her favorite.
