The dinosaurs had a look through the online calendar of holidays, in search of a theme for this week's photo shoot. They came across Evolution Day (November 24) -- also called "All Our Uncles Are Monkeys Day." It's the anniversary of the publication of Darwin's "On the Origin of Species."
The dinosaurs all had a chuckle over that. All their uncles are NOT monkeys, of course. The younger dinosaurs thought it was hysterical and begged the committee to choose that theme. One of the apatosaurus youngsters is on the themes committee and he simply wouldn't agree to anything else. Well...you know how adolescents and teens can just wear you down. Finally they got their way. Then they procrastinated doing the outdoor shoot they had in mind until today when everything had been covered with ice overnight and now was melting and dripping. The adult apatosaurus insisted on going out with them to chaperone. I was grateful to have him there.
We tried several locations out front, but couldn't get the little plastic monkey to hang where he would be visible and still get the dinosaurs in the shot. This was taken out back on the edge of the brick patio. See the little yellow monkey in the upper right? That's what they were calling Uncle Monk and laughing their heads off. I tried to make the shoot as short as possible. Resulting in a shot that I know is not focused properly. It was taken with the camera on the cell phone, since the iPod lost its charge precisely when it was needed for this. (Neither of those cameras are that great, anyway. Yeah, I know...excuses, excuses.)
Neanderthal Man was rather insulted and not amused by the young dinosaurs making fun of the "uncles are monkeys" concept....because, like us, his uncles were monkeys, in a manner of speaking, if you go back far enough. He went off and had his own photo shoot. You can see that here: http://365project.org/mcsiegle/365/2015-11-29
