The 12th was the birthday of our director, Kim. The reference is to a line from the play ("The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge") in which the judge says to Scrooge, "As much as you may find the phrase "Merry Christmas" objectionable...you may not legally object during Mr. Rothschild's opening remarks." Kim appreciated my joke. I added the words and candles, but the supermarket baked and otherwise decorated the cake.
