Whoa! Manhattan has a subway system!

Well...no...not really...

The Dinosaurs helped me with the World Wide Minute in 2019 and I got them to help me again this year. The optional theme was "Tourist in your own town." Unfortunately we were not able today (at precisely 5:47 pm) to organize an outing to something of interest in Manhattan, Kansas. So we laid out maps and tourism guides and did some planning.

Someone, NOT ME, pulled out a subway map for NYC, because in the lower left corner it said "Manhattan." Most of the Neanderthals and dinosaurs realized the mistake pretty quickly. There were, howerver, a couple of them (who I won't embarrass by naming names) who got all excited and wanted to plan an outing to ride on the subway. For crying out loud! They have definitely been cooped up inside too long.

We looked at the bike trails, but some dinosaurs were nervous about going out on bikes. I said I'd do the pedaling and steering and they could kick back and ride in the basket, but it got nixed anyway. Just as well, that many dinos and Neanderthals in one bike basket may have taxed my sanity.

I pointed out the map of the bus routes and schedule and suggested they find someplace to go without having to ask Frank or me for a ride. In the end, though, what interested the majority of them (and especially the Mosasaurus and Plesiosaurus!) was Tuttle Creek Lake and State Park. It's a bit too far to be on a bus route, but I wouldn't mind going there myself. So someday, when its nice I'll take at least a few dinosaurs and my camera and get some fresh air.

In the meantime, there are some dinosaurs and Neanderthals who are a bit put out about the quality of this photo -- specifically the depth of field. After getting everyone in place and trying to get the camera on the tripod, it got close to time to take the shot so I abandoned the $%#%* tripod and put the camera on "Automatic." This is what I got. I'm putting this and the long explanation in my main album because you can see the iPhone says 5:47. In my Alternates album I'm putting a shot I took with the phone a few minutes later that actually has better focus on the whole group. That should get me back in good graces with those who were stuck in the background.
