R.I.P. number Seven by mcsiegle

R.I.P. number Seven

Number seven of an eventual nine dead (or nearly dead in the case of the first two) bats found back in July. I took a picture of this one before depositing him (or her) outside in the bat burial grounds. Haven’t found any since then.

We had a guy from a pest management company come out for an assessment. We’ve paid for that, but haven’t taken the time to follow up further on their proposal to find and seal up entry points to the house. All but the first two were found after we returned from being gone for about a week. I imagine they got in and then found themselves trapped with no water and not enough insects to eat.

The pest management guy said that sometimes one bat would get in and find themself stuck and would put out distress signals for help and others would come in response to that. I suppose that might’ve been the case. He said one time in a building not currently being lived in they found 27 dead bats in a bathtub. And the owner told them that was the second time a large number were found in that tub!
Oh dear. Appropriate background word.
