Friday (1/21) I left work about an hour early and Frank and I drove to Salina, about an hours drive away, to see a play, stay over in a hotel, and spend some time in Salina on Saturday (1/22). That was our 50th Anniversary. We didn't do anything spectacular. Our usual Saturday Zoom meeting of the North American Welsh Choir on the iPad just before checking out of the hotel. Had a nice meal at the Olive Garden, and found a rock and mineral store just as we were about to drive out of town. Big disappointment is the meat store I wanted us to go to to satisfy Frank's obsession with hot dogs. He loves finding ones made by small producers or stores. But I hadn't noted that on Saturday they close at noon. Dang! I feel another trip to Salina coming in the near future.
I didn't take a single picture until just before we found the rock and mineral store. I was driving up North Santa Fe Ave and saw this amazing mural on the old mill building. It encircles the building on 3 sides. I snapped some pictures with the iPhone on the east side, took these of the south side (see other photo posted to the 22nd), and cut through a little passage on the west between portions of the mill, taking a couple of pictures along the way. On the north side, I took a couple of pictures of inconsequential stuff and then found that the battery was entirely expended on the phone. So I couldn't get any pictures of the north side of the mural. Sigh. NEXT time we go... I'll take the camera and get better pictures of the east, south, and north. See the posting on 1/22 for the other half of the south side and a link to a FaceBook page for the Salina Kanvas project, which I didn't know anything about until just now.
What an amazing photo of this art project. you have managed to show it very well.
