Downtown Manhattan — Wednesday 12/21 4:35 pm

My get pushed challenge from Pete was to “show the crowds as a street photographer as people do their Christmas shopping.” It was pretty chilly outside. I knew the crowds would be indoors and so I did most of my “street photography” at Dillons (supermarket) and Walmart. But to give the streets a go, on my way home I stopped downtown. It was the end of the business day, so while there were plenty of cars parked and passing, there were only a few people about, mostly heading into restaurants and bars.
Here are a couple of men and one of the outdoor eating areas built out into the street in front of restaurants on Poyntz Avenue during COVID restrictions. Not in use at present, of course (Brrrrr!) but decorated for the season.

Well done to catch people as I've heard that there is a cold bomb coming from the Artic. Bad timing on my part. Still you successfully completed the challenge and you could say you caught the atmosphere of Christmas

Pretty decorations and, although it’s not a crowd you managed to catch a couple of people outside in the cold!

Such a powerful story told her Mary.

Well before I saw your name, I thought New York's not very busy the day before the day before Christmas. Then I realized it's Manhattan KS not NY. Disheartening to see the store closing signs.

Great street photography, Mary. The lack of people and store closing sign really does tell a story.
