What a day! Our covid free bubble has burst. After 10 months with no community spread we have had an outbreak. A security guard monitoring hotel quarantine picked up the infection on the 26th or 27th January and didn't self isolate when he began to feel unwell. There are now 15 confirmed cases but that may blow out hugely over the next few days. Our Premier has announced a 5 day lock down which started at 6pm today. Hopefully this tough and rapid response will be enough to get it back under control.
The announcement was made around midday and people went into a shopping frenzy resulting in huge queues to get into supermarkets. Apparently bread, milk, meat and of course toilet paper were in high demand. The fact that they can still do essential food shopping during the lockdown didn't seem to compute. They'll just have to wear a mask! I hope that we won't see the greed and selfishness that surfaced when covid first raised its ugly head. I guess time will tell.
A lovely capture - sorry about the covid news. Here in the states, we still have shopping restrictions on various items - that may last forever, to keep the hoarding down.
This is beautiful and so sorry re the popping of the bubble...but how lucky you are to live where the response is rapid. So glad we have a new man in charge
We are still in lockdown + curfew.
Beautiful capture of the Echeveria.
