Our beautiful red tailed black cockatoos have a very distinctive call. this morning I heard them in our neighbours gum tree and had to go and investigate. Initially there were eight of these gorgeous birds in the tree. It appeared to be adults and juveniles as the young were still being fed. They were feeding very quietly, unlike the galahs and corellas.
What a gorgeous bird with those beautiful tail feathers, that must have been quite a treat for you.

Looks as though he is trying to hide. We do see yellow tailed cockatoos here in the bay but rarely see red tailed these days.
