Interesting for me: There is a genetic reason why people love or hate Brussels sprouts. This vegetable contains a chemical similar to Phenylthiocarbamide - which tastes bitter to people who have a particular gene. The "brussels sprouts" gene: TAS2R38
About half of us have this gene - means you do or don't taste the bitterness in sprouts, broccoli, etc.
So it really is one of those love them or hate them type of things - and there's nothing you can do about it.
I love all kinds of veggies and I was keen to try Brussel sprouts. I still remember the first time I tasted them and they were so horrible I almost spat them out! Never did try them again.
LOL too funny M. At my house my hubby loves them and I don't. And since I do the shopping we don't have them very often. tee hee hee.
You did a marvelous job presenting them here for the brussel sprout lovers.
I have always loved Brussels sprouts, even as a child, when we used to have them with Christmas dinner. I like the dof and light and colour and water drops in this, and it's a fav for me, just like the sprouts.
Only you can make Brussels Sprouts look good! Super image and so well composed. I'm not a lover nor a hater. But I never buy them except for Christmas lunch and that's on my husband's request. So I suppose I don't like them really!
I can just feel the crunchiness of these sprouts and imagine them on my plate in due course! Good DOF and sharp where it ought to be sharp; on those droplets of water! Very nice!
Absolutely fascinating! I *TRY* to like them, but I have no affinity for them whatsoever! NOW I think I understand why! On the other hand, I LOVE what I see in your photo!
