Looking Down by mozette

Looking Down

Last week, the resident Kookaburra showed up and sussed out the neighbour's yards for grubs. While sitting there, he looked down and I got this perfect shot. I love it; it looks like he's taking a bow.
He's a beauty

@digitalrn He's about the size of a Super Bowl Ball... very round and fat! Been eating our lawn grubs and worms because it's been a wet year. But he is quite tame seeing he lets me close enough to photograph him.

Love this little bird. So interesting looking. Probably common where you are but not here in Cali!!

@allibird he's anything but small... Kookaburra's are the biggest bird of the Kingfisher family of bird. They are lovely creatures though and keep down our grasshopper, lawn grub and spider population; which is a good thing. They eat lots of bugs - as well mince if you get them at the right time. :)

@giselle @cmt2812 he's a nice kind of bird; tries not to concern himself too much with the Noisy Minors around the place when they pick on him (or the other Kookaburras), but then, they can get a little picky about who they have to share their food and territory with.
