At around 6am this morning a line of storms grumbled their way through Brisbane. By around 8:30am or so, the heaviest of the rain was here and I was trying to keep my carport from being flooded too much; however, the stormwater drain next to my place was blocked and parked on by somebody's car.
So, I called Dad and told him about this - and accidentally took my anger out on him on how frustrated I was - and by the time I hung up from him, the water was lapping at my side door, my wheelie bin was floating and - even though I opened my back gate - the water wasn't going anywhere... even when I tried moving it with the broom.
This wasn't good.
I grabbed my camera (at my parent's suggestion) and took some photos of all the flooding. The main problem of how this all happens each time it pours rain is because the storm water drain was replaced by our last Body Corporate Chairperson; and it wasn't the right type of drain cover. Yes, it kept stuff out, but didn't let enough water through. My place isn't the only townhouse affected by this (as all the drains on my side of the complex have had their drains changed to these useless drain covers that don't do anything); and I hope this can be fixed before the next storm hits.
This is the closest I've come to having my house flooded by rainwater in the 9 years I've lived here; I don't want to get this close again.

This is the worse it's ever been; and I don't wish to see how bad it really can get. I have sent off the photos to Mum and Dad so they can see how bad it is here when it comes to storms.
@digitalrn@cmt2812 thanks for your comments. I really do hope this is fixed soon; I don't want a repeat performance of what Mother Nature can do - only worse - next time.
