Today, Mum, Dad and I went out to a Melbourne Cup Lunch at Limelight where we had a lovely lunch and watched the races. Before we arrived, Mum and I placed our bets at the TAB and once we got to the restaurant, we took part in the Sweepstakes!
There was a pianist there who played some wonderful music on a grand piano - and it was all music we knew - and then the race that stopped a nation was on! I won $4.00 on the sweepstakes and $15.70 at the TAB.... not bad for a once-a-year flutter!
The Begonia was a plant I was given for showing up and taking part. Every lady there was given a plant and every man was given a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine.
