Doors seem to pull you in and provide scope for a whole host of stories.
I could not go past this door without capturing it. The very name of the building is "Hope Cottage". One is immediately drawn to ask what was in the mind of the person who first called it that name. What hopes and fears, needs and aspirations motivated such a name? We will never know.
We will never go through the door either. This is now a false door. It is actually screwed in place and there is no door furniture. If you want to enter the building you have to go down a side alley. What a shame that a building named in such a manner no longer has a front door!
I would love to know the life of the person who prompted such a name for a building that now lies behind this forever closed door.

Love the composition and the fact it's a story picture. In a way it reminds of the picture of Jesus standing outside the closed door with no handle - you have to open it and let Him in. It's a beautiful shot and title.
@rainbowsnic42 - I don't know anything about it really. I am not even sure what the name of the street was. It is in a near-by town I am not very familiar with. I went past it and felt it ached to be photographed. So I stopped and took this shot.
Great shot and a really fascinating commentary especially that the door is a false one! I worked as a postie in York for a while and I found the doors really interesting - more so the longer I delivered to them!
Great commentary to go with this great pic. I think it looks a bit creepy without a door handle and that stark tree, maybe could star in a horror film or an episode of Dr Who?
Joy and dreams are inviting.
But none may enter.
