Morval Steam Fair [12]

A final full sized traction engine from the Morval Steam Fair. This one is interesting because it is one of the traction engines that is able to change its front wheels. This set is for pulling. The other type is a heavy steel barrel type affair used to press tar-macadam into a new road surface. You can see a traction engine with the compression wheel on the link below (and a history).

The top of the big wheels is about 5ft 10in. This is quite a big engine.

An earlier traction engine posting with their history...

@digitalrn - It is large. The full sized ones are about 30 feet long.

After seeing the little miniature ones, it's hard to wrap your head around a 30-foot one.

Wouldn't it be fun to give the grandkids a ride around the yard in a machine like this? Holy Cow!!! Fascinating!

Isn't that a showman's engine with the barley sugar twists columns and the decorative paintwork on the wheels?
