Identify This No. 116

Try not to get "...into the fire" with this one. What is it? You see part of the object. I want to know what the whole thing is called.

For those of you in the know, this is the underside of a brand new Rugby Union boot (8 stud for front line work). My eldest son is keen on rugby and plays for a local team. So the start of the season costs me lots of money. So I thought my photography should benefit a little too! I was pleased with this shot. The boot is very simular to football boots and indeed some soccer players are using these I think.

Tonight's select few top observers are...
Lee Gordon; Tanya; Mike Warren; Shirley Chetwynd; Kathy A; for studded football or rugby boots... Correct
scooter; Doug O.; Paula Brumbe; and others for cleated shoes/boots. I am guessing this is an over-the-pond word for studs!

Honourable mentions...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rick Schies - I have no clue, seriously. Net says:-->> Honestly Rick you must play rugby sometime! LOL> Well anyway you learnt something.
scooter - I have no idea but reminds me of cleated shoes. Net says:-->> Not sure what 'cleated' are, but I get the idea. Half marks for the attempt? LOL
Alison Bailey - I'll take Lee's word for it, I don't do sport, but if that's right it looks like a commemorative, gold plated one. I guess it wasn't from us winning the World Cup, though; it probably wouldn't look so new after 45 years! Net says:-->> Well, actually you make the mundane sound really grand. LOL. Nope these are common or garden rugby boots bought just yesterday. The golden light is the good old tunsten cast from a domestic light.LOL. I muffed it and you thought it was a grand gold plated version. LOL. Well, thats photography for you.
Leslie Manna - Buzz Lightyear's spare power pack??? Nice one, Damon, Les - Net says:-->> LOL. Like that one Les. Nice one. A Doohicky Gas Tank Award for you! Yeeehhhaaa!
Paula Brumbe - Cleats on a pair of shoes. I would say football, but then we would have to debate which style. Net says:-->> So on the other side of the pond cleats are studs? You could be right. We might be talking a different language! In fact we are... LOL>
Paula Cook-Farkas - This is obviously a fancypants boombox with lots of knobbies and controls for volume, bass, treble, and what not. Net says:-->> Well, you got me there. Never thought of that one. LOL> Nice idea. A Doohicky award! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHo!
Howard N - It looks to me that whatever it is, it belongs on the left foot rather than the right. If that is the case, either the person who owns this is very light on this feet (foot), or has not worn them in combat. Or maybe... I give up! Net says:-->> absolutely correct as far as you go. Well done! But not the answer! LOL>
Bonnie Lusted - Super shot and lighting. Is it a gum-guard for a rather large dog? Net says:-->> Ha ha! LOL. Love that one. Nice idea. I am not sure that I know any rugby playing dogs, but I will sure keep a look out now! LOL> A Doohicky award. YabbaDoodlums!!!
Alta D© - what is an important robot gear that is essential for any transformations! It's morphing time! Net says:-->> Huge LOL. Like that one. Nice idea. Love to morph myself when I can. A Doohicky award... ! Yeeeehaaaawwww!
Sue Wilde - Speaking as a born and bread farm girl; We used to have things called "lamb bars"which were a bucket full of milk whith teats put in around the outside to feed the orphaned lambs. I've looked at this shot from every angle and I'm absolutely certain that it's a lamb bar for hydraulic rams. Net says:-->> Well Sue, if I ever turn into a hydraulic lamb you will be the first one I will go to for advice! LOL> A really bizarre and perfectly plausible description. So a Robot Lamb-Sucking Award for you! (Particularly rare that award!) LOL> YaaaaaaaaY!
Lesley Barber - I'm with Sue here...hydraulic rams,eh? The mind boggles...! Net says:-->> Yes, I am feeling particulalry boggled myself. I think I will go and lie down for a while. LOL>
Bev - Either a sneaker with cleats or the underside of a waffle maker Net says:-->> I particularly like the the Waffle idea. LOL> Nice one. A hot-potato award to you! Yeeeehaaa!
Thanks for stopping by everyone. I appreciate your comments. Great fun.
Oh, I think I used something just like this to make raw eggs into fluffy whipped dreams of food. I will go with a pan handle.
cast iron frying pan
This is not fair. You know that you have an international audience yet you only show us these primative local thingies. Prior responders say frying pan handle or the like, but would you use a wooden handled pan over an open flame? I don't know! But, maybe.
This is a handle
Frying pan handle on cast iron pan. Very useful item that handle. Without it the frying pan becomes a dog dish.
Cast iron frying pan handle. No, sorry, scrub that. Let's be careful here. It's a handle for a cast iron frying pan.
ON a cast iron frying pan. :-)
Spindle on a ships wheel or shovel/pan handle.
LOL! You have the funniest gadgets. I would imagine this is something affixed to the handle of a frying pan so you don't burn your hands.
