...can you smell it? The smell of a second hand bookshop and an old book? Oh the delight. Almost beats the smell of fresh air. And is there any greater excitement that walking through the door of a higgledy-piggledy second hand bookshop and browsing the shelves and choosing a book?
Oh yes I can smell it. I just love the smell of old books. When we used to visit our daughters who then lived in Victoria and we were in New South Wales it took us 3 days to travel the 1000 km because we stopped at every second hand book shop along the way
Absolutely! Old bookshops have always filled me with excitement, what might I find on the next shelf. A modern bookshop with a pile of "specials" on a table at the entrance just doesn't have the same mystery!
The best second hand book shop I ever went in is in Hamilton in NZ. They had moved last time I went & although still great it had lost its old book smell. Re sited next to the river it now has an ice cream shop next to it!
Wow -- I wish I had taken this photo myself! Particularly since I'm doing 30 days of my library. I love how you artistically present something so old and falling apart yet beautiful.
