Back in the day we called fizzy drinks "pop" and the Pop Man used to come round the streets in a van selling them. My mum never let us buy any but I always wanted to try Dandelion & Burdock because it sounded the most exotic. 50+ years on and I still haven't tried it.
Edit: Just remembered that the Pop Man used to give money for empty pop bottles (they were all glass). And we used to get money back for taking empties to shops so I wouldn't have found very many lying around back then.
Great shot. When I was in the scouts in the 60’s we used to collect bottles in a bottle drive and sell them back to the producers. They could be washed and reused.
This has bought back a memory when the Corona lorry would deliver to our neighbour. He would give money back on an empty bottle. Amazing how resourceful we were in obtaining empties!!!
We called all carbonated drinks “pop” where I grew up in Montana. Here in Texas they are all called soda. I also collected the empties for their deposit value.
