This elaborate fountain was gifted to the village of Newport on Tay by a generous benefactor in 1882.
It is no longer providing water for weary travellers but it is now a popular tourist attraction.
I'm sure it is a popular tourist attraction. I wonder if it was always painted red and white with a touch of gold? It is certainly eye catching with those colours popping against that wonderful sky. What a pity you can no longer get water from it
