This was taken at a subway (public transit) stop... crossing the scene is a man carrying a shopping bag... in the back, on the right, is the ladies' washroom... not sure I will tag it for my entry this week for the street photo challenge, but it seemed to have all the elements... ;p
For context, there are a couple street musicians off to the left that the lady and kid are watching... which was my main reason for stopping to take photos... i have a nice pic of them which i may or may not post later...
btw, tx so much for all the nice comments on the hats off photo... i think you saw more in it than i did :)
I really like the movement in the background. I never seem to achieve the stillness of one subject and the movement of another. Will have to practice (and find some moving targets I guess).
@newbie tx Stacey... the movement is totally dumb luck in this case... the lighting in the underground subway sucks, and even with the ISO up to 400, shutter speed was pretty slow... mom and kid were stationary watching the buskers... the other 2 were just a-meandering along... :)
Love it! The movement of the 2 figures contrasted with the stillness of the main subjects is great. Apart from which you have a good photo if you crop to leave just the woman and child!
I'm going to the big city next week. Maybe I'll try some street photography then.
